I have finished building the structure that extends the roof of the small barn. This will not only create a dry area, protected from the rain but also help with keeping temperatures down during the summer, or at least that's the plan! #centralportugal #offgrid #offgridfarm #homestead

A lot of rain in Portugal. Nice lamp👍
Get yourself some WAGO connectors for joining the cables. They are a pleasure to work on, and they are very safe and durable.
Also I assume you're just twisted the cables at the lamp together and put heat shrink on them. That's not a good idea. This is not air tight, so the copper will Oxidise and the resistance of the connection will increase which leads to higher heat buildup and that can eventually melt the insolation and get the to copper cores to touch. In summary, that's how houses ( and sheds) burn down. 🔥
Wow, you've got a lot going on! Renovating an off-grid farm, plus taking over a business & trying to learn management & how an electrician's shop works on the fly (and IIRC, a new girlfriend -which is great, don't get me wrong; but human beings always need to spend a bit of time adjusting to each other). Please do your best to eat healthy & get some decent sleep (&, if you can, a bit of exercise that's more relaxation than labor). I'm impressed with your solution for getting rid of the water, and how well it worked out. And the outdoor lamp looks beautiful & is indeed a game changer. Also, you nearly died twice in 20 minutes- clever of you to set up all that drama just for the video. 😉
Hi Gonçalo ! How’s it going? You have done a fantastic job of that small dingy “shed“. You have turned it into a very warm and comfy tiny home . And it keeps getting better as you go along which is amazing !! But on a different note it feels like you are investing a lot of founds and time on it when you could use it to refurbish the larger barn instead . Have you ever thought / consider about getting yourself something like a caravan or a static caravan something or along those lines ? even if it was in second hand so you could speed up the process of reaching your main goal and ultimately save a few pennies ?! Anyway this was just a thought! Keep on going you are doing an amazing Job ! Adeus , Take care .
Siphon pipe maybe ... would that have helped?
I love the lamp, the old stuff has way more character. The only advice I can give is that you normally put the switch on the brown wire, the blue is normally the neutral, but on a two pin plug it's not as important. ❤
Thank you for the tip! I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future installs. I have a lot to learn!
Lol, you will only forget to unplug it once, I know...😂 I always tell my friends that if they switch it on and the toilet doesn't flush it's a success.😂❤
Hello Goncalo, how funny is that, I'm an electrician of all things. I am also one of the lucky ones that have joined your membership and it is by far the most updated membership I have. Don't sell yourself short, I'm sure most of your viewers would enjoy the updates and correspondence as much as I am. Keep doing what you are, it's working. Cheers from Cape Town.👌❤️🇿🇦
That’s a crazy coincidence! If you ever want to come work in central Portugal, let me know! 😂
Thank you, I will definitely remember that, you never know.👍
It's incredible how much water such a small area caught, what a problem to solve lol. Very entertaining.😂❤
I have no idea how the tarp held up. There must’ve been at least 100 litres of water
The outside lantern looks fabulous! You did a good job getting rid of the water!
Thank you! I really like the light, it’s a real game changer!
Thank you for sharing and being brave enough to look after your needs and take time to reflect. There is no rush, those who genuinely enjoy these types of vlogs understand and appreciate that things progress in their own time. It’s not about the outcome, but the journey. Take care 🙏🏽
Thank you for those words. I completely agree. I’m glad you understand
Your cabin is like the punk version of Martijn Doolaard's cabin. I love you man. Please survive!✌😉
Maybe someday I’ll be at his level! I love his work
@@goncalovalle Yes, I think you can do and it will be great...if you survive your training as an electrician;)
😮😅
You could have just attached a faucet and turned it into a water reservoir!
I could use it as a way to flush the toilet!
Well done. It's gonna be all right.
Thank you!
How brave working in the dark! Hard working guy. Well done
Thank you! I know it’s not the best for the video, but it was the only time I could do it!
I hope everything is well with you. I’m a UA-cam thumbnail designer, and I’m passionate about creating high-quality, brand-centered thumbnails that draw in viewers. I can create a sample for you to evaluate. If it meets your needs, we can talk about working together long-term. Looking forward to your response!
Thank you for asking. At the moment I really like doing them myself, and I don’t really have a budget to pay anyone else to do it. But I appreciate you reaching out!
With help from your girlfriend👍
Bathroom yes👍
I’m really excited to get this done. Imagine how much nicer it’ll be to be able to have a warm shower at the farm
You are back. That‘s great
Yes! And this time I’m doing things so that I can sustain the weekly videos for longer!
Frankie Off Grid just built a pallet bathroom
I saw! Theirs is looking great!
Welcome back. It is lovely to have you back. Many thanks for your generosity in sharing your thoughts and difficulties. Looking forward for more videos.
Thank you, I really appreciate that! I’m very excited to continue sharing the progress with you!
You should always have music while you work 🎉🎉
I’m just saying if it was me I would have put it under the veranda to get out of the weather. I would have just dug down 2 feet then set the platform and built it up to the top of the veranda. and you only need three walls and use the veranda for your roof if it was me just an idea trying to help a easier and simple way
I thought of that, but as I have some other plans for what to do with that space, I figured it was best to make the bathroom as separate building
Lol, looking at the old footage of the hole saw grabbing your glove and the current black nail I wouldn't say that you were being dramatic. Careful.👍😂
Ahahaha I guess sometimes safety is not my number one concern. I should be more careful
Awesome, we get to meet your girlfriend. It's really great to see her there and that she looks eager to help. It's not always the case with a partner and I know, I've lived in a rural area most of my life. The pneumatic tyre on the wheelbarrow is very comfortable to use and easier to push in softer ground, but it's something I won't touch if you have thorns or brambles. Here you can get a sponge replacement for the tube or a rubber tyre, definitely worth doing if you fix or get another one.👍
Thanks! I agree, the pneumatic tyre isn’t the best for this use, I’m gonna replace it with a solid rubber wheel!

Enjoying seeing you back and watching your projects unfold. If those are pieces of logs,vs.stones under the frame for your new bathroom i would be concerned that they will rot in a yr or so laying on the ground. At least where I live that would likely happen. Unless of course they are some type of wood that doesn't tend to rot.
Yes, I think you’re right! I’m trying to solve that by keeping the wood off the floor
Isn't it harder and colder at night to try and build something? I'd only want to do any of that in the day. For many reasons! But your effort is not going unnoticed!
It definitely is a lot harder! However since I’m out working during the day, it’s the only time I’m able to do some real work!
I did wonder what happened... Good to have you back... You have changed your look somewhat .. no more skinny jeans 🙂
Thank you! Good to be back!
Congratulations Gonçalo superbe vidéo 📹 les couleurs du Portugal sont magnifiques bon courage ❤
Thank you!
I'm enjoying the updates as a member, it's really coming together now. 👍
Glad you enjoy it!
Just a quick warning about the staples you are taking out, get an old bucket to throw them in, you are not going to find it amusing getting punctures with your bike or wheelbarrow. I know, it's a lot harder to find them once they are on the ground. I'm not sure what to do about the moisture, I will definitely keep an eye out for anything I can find.❤️
That sounds like a very smart thing to do. Thank you!
Hey Goncalo, I feel the same about reusing materials, everything is extremely expensive here in South Africa. When I built my wooden framed house about 80% was reused, and I made it work. The house ended up with loads of character, I loved it. Like your small door, it adds to the charm of the place.👍
I completely agree! It definitely adds a lot more personality to a place!
Hello brother , you could have chosen to have saved ysome pennies and do things differently regarding the initial accommodation! But then I realised that you actually love to be creative and do the stuff by yourself! And let me tell you are doing a great job ! Keep up the good work ! Take care
Thank you!!
Bom trabalho ,continua gonçalo bj
